Forest have accepted a for Matt Lockwood from Colchester United.
It is understood that the Reds have accepted a fee of £100,000 for the left sided defender from the north Essex club.
Lockwood is yet to hold talks with Colchester, who will return to League One next season following their relegation from the Championship.
The 31-year-old played 12 times for Forest last season after signing from Leyton Orient, where he made 375 appearances in over 10 years. His chances for the Reds were limited due to the sensational form of forest's "player of the year" Julian Bennet.
