RobertEarnshawThe Red's may target D*rby County striker Robert Earnshaw to give them extra firepower for their return to the Championship next season.

Forest are said to have made an inquiry about the Welsh international's availability back in January. But, with their promotion now in the bag, Calderwood will get the green light to make a fresh bid for the 27-year-old.

Earnshaw only joined D*rby last summer, for a fee of £3.5m from Norwich, but has struggled to break into the Rams' side during their (dreadful!) relegation from the Premiership, starting only seven games, making 15 substitute appearances and scoring just one goal.

But the Zambia-born player has a superb record at Championship level, where he was a prolific scorer with West Brom and Norwich.

And Forest are hopeful that he can be among the first of several big-name signings brought in to bolster the squad that secured promotion on Saturday.

And Calderwood hopes that Forest's return to the second-tier of English football will make the club a more attractive proposition for potential signings, particularly those with the pedigree of Earnshaw.

"Ultimately we had to be in the Championship to attract some players," said Calderwood. "It was very apparent through one or two players we tried to get this season that being in League One was an issue."
